If you hear noise chances are you scratched the platters -> no data
can be restored.

Did you replace it with a board of the exact model???

Open the cover of the HDD in a clean room with no air circulation (to
prevent dust from going on the platters) and see if the surface is
scratched or not. Maybe you're lucky enough to have the mechanical
head stuck only.
