I don't think all those frequent accidents are due to cable cuts, i think many of them r due to cable bends, since we've been hearing a lot of incidents recently. 
Cable bends would make more sense cuz they can be easily triggered. There's no way that those cables r fragile or at least laid down without protection, since submarine cabling in general is a big money business.

Bashar: Shshshshshsh!! Don't give them excuses!
They're stupid enough to say shark bites!

The cables are maid of material that doesn't rust and them being down
there for very long would have seashells growing on them which makes
the cables even stronger (Like an old whale's body).

No images were released in each incident to show the damages...
However, marine-cable companies are to be blamed since most of the
pictures out there show the cables laying on the sand rather than
buried 6 meters under the seabed.
