I prefer Kubuntu. The difference is that the Window Manager (User
Interface) offers much more options.

Ubuntu, on the other hand, uses GNOME. You can of course install both,
but the hassle of changing the default Window Manager, is may be too
early for newbie :)

Kubuntu is the same as Ubuntu, they just changed the Window Manager.
