what you are getting are nameservers registered at the rootservers thats
why you get those results

internic replies these results because of the nameservers registered at
each respective registry.

check http://awhois.com/google.com

btw never use who.is or whois.ws they catch whois search and register
the available domains for parking (domain tasting) google for more info

on newer versions of jwhois they should forward to the registrar whois
server and reply with results such as:

[bashar at orbit ~]$ whois google.com
[Querying whois.internic.net]
[Redirected to whois.markmonitor.com]
[Querying whois.markmonitor.com]
[whois.markmonitor.com]

then the results shows here

try whoising aa.net you will get the same because there is a nameserver
called aa.net.au registered:

(~)whois aa.net

Whois Server Version 2.0

Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.

AA.NET.AU
AA.NET

and the list goes on :)
