Well that stinks! I feared this was gonna happen and it did!

Here are some excerpts from previous blog posts regrading MySQL's acquisition:

Marten Mickos, CEO, MySQL: "Sun's culture and business model
complements MySQL's own by sharing the same ideals that we have had
since our foundation -- software freedom, online innovation and
community and partner participation."

Jonathan Schwartz, president and chief executive officer, Sun
Microsystems, Inc.: "For the first time ever, businesses across the
world can standardize on a commercially supported, open source
platform that meets their needs for scale, quality and global
service."

I would like to emphasize that there were promises, or maybe just
hints, that MySQL would remain open-source. Much like most suspected,
that's not gonna happen.
And here comes the funny part:

"The acquisition cements Sun's entrance into the $15 billion database
market, affirms Sun's leadership in open source software and positions
the company as the leading provider of enterprise platforms for the
Network Economy."

I'm sorry .. Sun's leadership in open-source software? Since when it
had leadership in that area? It barely coughed out Java!!!
